What an IRAS tax invoice must show

A GST-registered business must issue a tax invoice to GST-registered customers. IRAS expects it to include:

    • the words “Tax invoice”
    • your name, address and GST registration number
    • an identifying number and the invoice date
    • the customer’s name and address
    • a description of the goods or services, with any discount
    • the total excluding GST, the GST rate and GST amount, and the total including GST

For smaller sales, a simplified tax invoice is allowed. If you invoice in a foreign currency, the GST amount must also be shown in Singapore dollars. See IRAS’s guide on invoicing for details.

    GST InvoiceNow requirement

IRAS is phasing in the GST InvoiceNow requirement, under which GST-registered businesses send invoice data to IRAS through the InvoiceNow (Peppol) network. It already applies to new voluntary registrants, and IRAS plans to extend it to all GST-registered businesses in stages from around 2028 to 2031, notifying each business of its date.

A PDF from here is not sent through InvoiceNow. If the requirement already applies to you, use an InvoiceNow-ready solution for your tax invoices and this template for quotes and proformas. Check IRAS’s website for your timeline. Not registered for GST? Use a normal invoice template without GST.

Do I have to use InvoiceNow?

Only once the GST InvoiceNow requirement applies to your business. IRAS is notifying existing GST-registered businesses of their dates.
