Important: ZIMRA fiscalisation and tax invoices

VAT-registered businesses in Zimbabwe must issue tax invoices through fiscal devices connected to ZIMRA’s Fiscalisation Data Management System (FDMS). From 2026, ZIMRA ties input tax claims to invoices that can be validated on FDMS.

A PDF made here is not a fiscalised tax invoice, because it is not sent to ZIMRA. That is why the preset starts with tax turned off. It is useful for:

Check ZIMRA’s website (zimra.co.zw) or ask a tax consultant for the rules that apply to your business.

    • VAT at 15.5%, the standard rate from 1 January 2026 (up from 15%), only if you are registered. Show it separately.
    • The currency: US dollars or ZiG. State it clearly, and agree the exchange rate in advance if the client may pay in the other currency.

    Frequently asked questions

It is a proper commercial invoice, but it is not a fiscalised tax invoice, so a VAT-registered customer may not be able to claim input tax on it. Issue tax invoices through your fiscal device and use this for quotes and proformas.

What is the VAT rate in Zimbabwe?

The standard rate is 15.5% from 1 January 2026. Check ZIMRA for zero-rated and exempt supplies.

Can I invoice in ZiG instead of US dollars?

Yes. Change the currency to ZWG in the editor.

Where do I put my EcoCash number?

In the notes at the bottom of the invoice, for example “Pay via EcoCash to 077 000 0000, reference INV-0001”.
